Just found out that my husband may have diabetes. He had a physical this morning and had sugar in his urine and his glucose level was high. He does have a big family history of diabetes.

It's hard to believe that my thin, active husband at 37 years of age may have this.

Anyone got any experience with diabetes and following the diabetic diet?

WebMD has lots of good information! I found out a lot there when my daughter was diagnosed with Lupus. It's a shock, though, isn't it?

I have Type II. I'm on oral meds (not insulin) to control it. I've been on them for about a year and am still trying to get a handle on the best diet for me. The dietician gave me what the ADA recommends for a diet, and it was way too high calorie/high carb. So, now I'm researching what will work best for me. I think it's a real individual thing, but for me I have to watch all processed foods.

Email me sometime if you want to chat. I'll keep your hubs in my prayers. I have another friend whose husband is facing the same thing too.

It does seem strange to me that he would have it when here I am, overweight, bad diet, and nothing. I hope he will be fine.
